Abacus

1. introduction

An abacus is usually very simple in construction and basically consists of a frame in which
balls are threaded from rods. These balls represent by their position a certain number, i.e.
it is based on a place value system.
The abacus is called the oldest calculating machine, although it is hardly used nowadays.
is used nowadays, sporadically from the Balkans to China. In Austria it is also called the slacker. How to use an abacus?

2. history

The origins are believed to be around 1100 BC in the Indo-Chinese cultural area,
Madagascar or Central Asia. For the today’s, in the European area
the abacus used in Europe today, its cultural origins lie in ancient
Greece, whereby this still had very little to do with the today’s
conception had to do. Likewise, a hand abacus developed in
ancient Rome, which was very similar to the Japanese.
Only by Adam Riese the calculating in the today usual
decimal system became popular and was perfected, so the “zero” was
was cleverly used for arithmetic. And yet, how to use an abacus?

3. different types of Abaki

Russian Abacus
This is called Stschoty, which means calculation.
It was preferred to the pocket calculator until the 90’s, but nowadays it is
but today it can only be found in rural areas.
The arithmetic beads are arranged horizontally, in rows, whereby
the 5th and 6th bead are of a different color.
A particular row contains only four arithmetic beads, although here it is
modern it can be called a joker, for example, to represent a comma.
Historically, it offered the possibility to calculate with quarters.
Chinese Abacus
Also called Suan Pan, it is still used today for learning basic arithmetic
basic arithmetic by children.
Here, the arithmetic beads are arranged in vertical rows
and have a two-part construction, because the frame is divided
by a crossbar into an upper and lower part

separated.
The upper part is called heaven and contains 2 beads, each of which has the value 5 and
the lower one is called earth and contains 5 beads, each of which has the numerical value 1.
Japanese Abacus:
This is called Soroban and is a
further development of the Chinese Suan Pan.
The arithmetic beads are also arranged in vertical
rows, but there is only one bead above the
bead above the bar and four below the bar.
bar.
Here, with the minimum number of
beads, mathematical bundles of 5 are formed,
i.e. here a maximum of arithmetic is achieved with a
with a minimum number of beads.

4. the european abacus

Here the arithmetic beads are arranged horizontally to form
ten rows with ten beads each.
These are thus moved horizontally for arithmetic.
Since a written description of the functioning of a
European abacus contains a lot of pictures and a lot of text
I will not record it here.
But there is a very good video on Youtube about calculating the four basic arithmetic operations with the
the European abacus.

How to Study for the SHSAT Editing/Revising: What grammar rules do I need to know?

The absolute best thing you can do for yourself is to join a SHSAT
The absolute best thing you can do for yourself is to join a SHSAT

The editing/revising section is the shortest part of the SHSAT ELA section, but it is still quite important to your exam score. There are 11 questions, 3-5 of which will ask you to edit standalone sentences and 6-8 which will ask you to revise and edit within the context of the passage. Scpecialized high school test prep classes we feature free practice tests for the ACT, SAT, and AP tests. The latter of these also tests your reading comprehension to some extent, so don’t forget to take in the meaning of what you are reading while you are editing. We have some specific tips for you to read more carefully when you are tackling the questions in this section:

  • 1. Ask yourself whether something can be said in a less confusing manner. Are there words or phrases that are making the sentence more difficult to understand?
  • Are there run-on sentences? Could things be said more concisely without changing the meaning of the sentence?
  • Does any part of the sentence seem redundant or incorrect? Take note besides sentences that you don’t think sound correct.
  • Read the passage more for syntax and less for meaning, but don’t ignore meaning. It will come in handy to answer questions about purpose.
  • Identify specific errors. Is there a problem with the word choice? Are there problems with the tense used or the grammar? Perhaps there is a run-on sentence. Be sure to select the correct sentence that needs to be addressed.

To do well in this section of the exam, you must think holistically about the overall development of sentences and what their addition contributes to the meaning of the passage. For sentence questions, consider the usage of words and always keep grammar rules in the back of your head as you are reading. Most importantly, be sure to read carefully. Picking specialized high school test prep classes is an inescapable part of high school. If you need to, re-read the sentence again with the correct change.

This game has student solve fraction problems in order to have the chance to score a goal for their soccer team. The game has students interpret the products of different fraction multiplication problems.

The game is great because it can be played on computers and tablets without installation and can be played alone or in teams. It’s fun for students to kick the soccer goals, but the game is more about the math than the soccer.

#2: Papa’s CupCakeria

This game helps students persevere in the face of problems, as well as manipulate fractions. The student has to fulfill cupcake orders and work quickly to staunch the flow of customers in a shop.

This game is fun, with brightly colored graphics and a fun soundtrack. It can only be played on a computer, which limits the number of students that can interact with it, and it’s focused more on real-world problem solving than fractions, with students spending more energy balancing fulfilling order than actually figuring out the fractions. Go math grade 5 is not just an ordinary subject that helps to develop intelligence, but also an important thing of any account.

Salutatorian speech

Salutatorian speech

There is something similar – a high hierarchization of Salutatorian speech the list of universities. This is reflected in the universal and not always justified recognition of the prestige of some institutions in comparison to others. For example, the “classical” Sorbonne (Paris-5, Paris-4, Paris-1) is more prestigious than the experimental University of Vincennes, now Paris-8, founded in 1968. In turn, as an almost Parisian university, it is more prestigious than universities on the distant periphery of the city, although among the latter there are universities with a high reputation. Standing apart and measured in prestige are the Institutes of Higher Education, including the for-profit ones. There, entrance exams are held, the selection of applicants is highly selective, and from there, students have some additional opportunities for professional careers. In exceptional cases, as at the École Normale Supérieure, students have the status of civil servant trainees, receive a stipend and are almost guaranteed a job upon graduation.

Many French politicians graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure. It’s about like the Russian Civil Service Academy….

I think it’s even more prestigious because it’s very strictly regulated. You can only get into the Higher School of Administration after the Higher Normal School (one of the most prestigious intellectual institutions), or after a series of promotions in the civil service and inclusion in the higher administrative “A” echelon. An important feature of this institution is that it accumulated not only administrative, but also intellectual potential. Some of the “students” of the Higher Administrative School were graduates of the Higher Normal School, who studied together with future professors and famous intellectuals, mastered together with them the elite intellectual program and competed with them in their studies.

You can read about Germany that there, thanks to the availability of public education, there were practically no private universities 15 years ago. And now they are taking over more and more segments of the educational market. Is something similar happening in France?

Salutatorian speech

Yes, of course. For example, the very same High Commercial Schools are fundamentally designed to generate income from students and on a model of self-sufficiency similar to that of the Russian State University – Higher School of Economics at the beginning of its existence. However, the situation of French for-profit schools has recently begun to resemble that of the SU-HSE. Prestigious universities, oriented to self-sufficiency, eventually consolidated their privileged position in the educational system at the expense of large state subsidies and decisive political and administrative support.

In France, as far as we know, most of the non-state universities receive state subsidies?

I will present a little bit more clearly the overall picture. In France there are in principle few universities, about 80: the status of the university is retained by state institutions “with a history” or assigned to their derivatives, which were created in the 60s and 80s during the university expansion. State education is unscramblewords predominant in France: In private universities, as in Russia, a little less than 15 percent of students study. There are non-state Catholic universities, of which there are fewer than 10. There are higher for-profit schools, originally private institutions with state recognition and accreditation along with accreditation by international business education associations. There are individual technical universities in the private sector, such as the School of Informatics. Of the hundreds of private universities, the French Ministry of Education subsidizes about 60 from the state budget.

Whose who’s

Whose who's

Whose who’s not forget that with similar violations may have different symptoms. If one child shows it in a light form which can be controlled, another child can show it in aggressive behavior directed on peers, adults that will create a dangerous situation – there will be a threat to health of other pupils or the teacher. Or, in one child, the presence of hyperactivity will not depend on his or her environment, and in another child, with the same diagnosis of a large number of children in the group and noise, the feeling of well-being and excitability may worsen. The conclusions of the psychological, medical, and pedagogical commission do not take into account the different features of the diagnosis or provide recommendations that would allow teachers in general educational institutions to begin correct correction work. Accordingly, not every child with special educational needs will feel comfortable and safe in a general education preschool.

Another problem faced by general education pre-school institutions is the lack of special commissions, primary education centers, and doctors. Not every parent (legal representative) with a special child can visit a psychologist, pedagogical commission, or who’s vs whose rehabilitation center far away. This means that there is no opinion from doctors and specialists, no recommendations for remedial work with the special child, and no control over the dynamics of development and effectiveness of the work performed without special recommendations.

Whose who's

An individual approach may need to be started before entering a regular kindergarten. Hence, the following problem arises in inclusive education… The state obliges each educational institution to create special conditions, accept a special child and provide specialists. And for general educational pre-school institutions in villages, villages and towns this is no exception. But this requires large financial expenditures, which are not always allocated to each institution, not everywhere. Given the time of registration of a request for general educational institutions, installation of equipment, the involvement of specialists also slows down the process of providing special conditions and creating a special environment. All this time, a child with disabilities has already started attending a pre-school educational institution. We can assume how the educational and upbringing process in general will be reflected – whether the work of teachers will be correct and effective, whether visiting an ordinary preschool will contribute to the development and correction of violations of a special child and not harm him/her. While in special correctional kindergartens and combined kindergartens, the presence of specialists and conditions at the initial stages is sufficient to ensure that the correctional process of education and upbringing begins as soon as the special child enters the institution.

Conclusion. There are many contradictions between special and general education. It is important to remember that in addition to inclusive education, there are other options for the education and upbringing of disabled and disabled children, although the traditional form of education is still special (correctional) educational institutions. Reduction of correctional and combined educational institutions, unpreparedness of participants of the process of education and upbringing, “inclusion” of all children into the educational process without exception – whether this will lead to quality education and upbringing of special children, to their socialization. Such an option of training and upbringing of disabled and disabled children together with healthy children as inclusive education may require adjustment and detailed consideration, paying special attention to educational institutions located outside cities and megacities.

Gre vocabulary list

Gre vocabulary list

Pedagogy was born in ancient times. Its foundations Gre vocabulary list were laid by Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Democritus, Quintillian. You do not notice anything? Yes, you are right, they were all men!

The schools are mostly run by women. For some reason, it happened in our country. And not only because of low salaries, but just at some stage of development, everyone somehow decided that education is a woman’s business. But schools were not always women’s territory. Remember the names of Pestalozzi and Ushinsky, Sukhomlinsky and Shatalov – they did not believe that pedagogy is not worthy of men, but, on the contrary, saw in this ministry their future civic duty.

And the heroes of the Russian classics were taken for a walk in the Summer Garden by tutors, not governesses. No, I’m not trying to reduce the role of women, but the fact remains: mothers, nannies, the first teachers, laid the foundation, but in the life of anyone who in pre-revolutionary Russia passed through a lyceum, gymnasium or school, there were men teachers. According to statistics, in those days, the bulk of youth mentors were men. And the government supported the desire of men to go into pedagogy.

Before the revolution, teachers, for example, were exempt from military service. This is despite the fact that at that time men were the overwhelming majority in pedagogy. Our grandfathers and great grandfathers were well versed in education, in the real interests and needs of their state and its people. Under Emperor Nicholas II, the expenses for education were increased sevenfold. No other country of that time, even the most developed and wealthy ones, can boast of such statistics.

It was all a long time ago, and today more and more people try to send their children to study abroad. Why? They say that education is better. Why is it better? Maybe it’s because men teach?

In the countries where we are striving to grow up (USA, Western Europe, Japan), the composition of the teaching corps is clearly divided: there are more women teachers in elementary school and more men in secondary school. Specialists in psychology think it is right: in elementary school a child still needs the care of his mother, who can be replaced only by a woman during lessons. But in high school, most Western psychologists advise to put the reins of power in the hands of men. Men have almost completely “occupied” the schools of Great Britain, a country with a recognized classical education. The reputation of English education has evolved over the centuries, its history begins in the VI century. And today in the most famous educational institutions, such as Eton, Harrow, Rugby, 80% of teachers are men.

Despite the recognized asceticism of English schools, one cannot but recognize the high quality of education they receive. The profession of teacher in England, of course, does not reach the level of the Japanese sensei, but still remains one of the most prestigious. The English are especially reverent about the acquisition of this profession. Each student of a pedagogical university, except for the main classes, is individually engaged by a teacher of pedagogy – “tutor”. Such classes create a stable contact between teachers and students. The tutor attached to the student not only transfers knowledge, but also teaches to think and act independently.

Before that it was mentioned about prestigious educational institutions. In ordinary schools of Europe the situation is not so cheerful. In 2011 in France, for example, many private educational institutions were late to start classes or refused to enroll students at all because they did not fill the vacancy for teachers. In the same year, the U.S. needed 200,000 teachers, and there were only 130,000 graduates with a teacher’s diploma. Unfortunately, the prestige of the teaching profession has been declining recently. This is also evidenced by learning activities for kinesthetic learners statistics, according to which in Germany, students of pedagogical universities are graduates of secondary schools, which are not distinguished by high academic achievements. Due to the decline of the prestige of the profession, the main composition of teachers of ordinary, not privileged schools in Europe, today is actively feminized. However, the same as in our country.

Let’s start with the analysis of learning Go math grade 7 workbook processes. Distance learning, unlike its traditional analogue, provides a unique opportunity to track the training course and guarantee its completion. If there is a situation when the user is not able to absorb the information obtained, he may be recommended other resources that will improve the productivity of the learning process. All, or nearly all, of the distance learning systems generate reports automatically, indicating students’ errors. It is possible to make adjustments to the module at any time.

It is also important that in this case all the necessary information is stored in one place. It is possible to collect teaching materials without using laser disks or other data carriers. This makes data loss less likely and training becomes easier.
Distance learning systems are highly effective because they help to remove components that are not of great importance. This is how the basic information is laid down. Trainees can choose the section of the course that they prefer. After studying the section, you can test your knowledge. There are a lot of means for this – a special simulator, testing and a classic exam.
The systems under consideration have excellent integration with a variety of sites, social networks and forums – e-Learning easily gets into Facebook, Linkedln, Twitter, VK and other popular resources. This approach is very effective, because the singapore math 1st grade more network sites are involved, the more people learn about these online courses.

Using a distance learning system helps to minimize costs. This is explained by the fact that the traditional form must take into account the rental of space, travel expenses and other important issues. In this case, the organization of courses in real time does not require significant cash injections.
In order to fully acquire modern knowledge, it is necessary to constantly monitor fresh scientific papers and update the course accordingly. Distance learning makes it much easier to do so, with the result that students study fresh material containing the latest scientific evidence.
Distance Learning provides free access to all the necessary content, since e-Learning can be studied on any PC, laptop, smartphone or other gadget. All information used in studies is conveniently stored on special remote servers.
And finally, distance learning has the ability to take into account all requirements. With this system, the introduction of new standards required for a particular company or organization is quite simple and fast.

It is clear that any system, including distance learning, has its obvious disadvantages. These are the disadvantages that will be discussed below.

The main disadvantages of distance learning
Lack of individualized approach – since instruction is provided remotely, there is no face-to-face communication between students and faculty;
the need for strict discipline in students – the entire responsibility for taking the course lies with the students themselves;
not every user has the quality technical equipment required to be comfortable in an educational environment;
lack of practical tasks and exercises;
lack of student supervision and additional incentives for students to study;
there is a high probability of learning from poorly designed training programs (this is possible if specialists working in the system of distance learning do not have sufficient qualifications for this);
lack of a verbal form of study, and all knowledge students can only present in writing.

Today the market for such systems is actively developing around the world. Such activity is associated with a high demand for education, on the one hand, and the constant development of information technology, on the other. In addition, the reason for the development of distance learning systems is the increasing number of Internet users from year to year.

As game-based learning becomes more and more popular, teachers are increasingly in favor of collecting evidence of games for the learning process. Game developers at GlassLab, a non-profit organization, hope New shsat they can prove the usefulness of games using SimCity as an example.

GlassLab collaborates with commercial game companies and experts who have worked together to develop virtual learning platforms for sixth grade students. The project is preparing to see the light of autumn 2013. It is built on the same principles as SimCity, but contains additional specific innovations.

“The vulnerability of education is that teachers cannot entertain children the way they entertain outside the classroom,” says Jessica Lind, CEO of GlassLab. “Teachers want to be useful in learning, but they can’t compete with the variety of digital devices that children have constant access to.

“None of the other games trying to accomplish the same task have reached the same level as us. They don’t check if they are https://argoprep.com/blog/shsat/new-shsat-exam/ evaluating what should be evaluated.

Teachers have been using the commercial version of SimCity as an educational platform for a long time, but with the latest version developed – EDU, GlassLab will try to unite teachers already working with these technologies. The game will set a creative vector of development, offer new plans for lessons, make cooperation between students and teachers more productive.

SimCityEDU is the result of research by the MacArthur Foundation on how games can reflect the existing evaluation system. According to the research, it is more effective to assess a student in the process of learning, rather than at the end of any block, as is traditionally the case in most schools. The research has proved that it is more reasonable to collect data on who is receiving education, how the process is progressing, how exactly a person makes decisions and makes choices that determine the result of learning. In the game system, players move to the next level when they have dealt with the previous one, when all the necessary skills and knowledge have been learned. The same concerns teachers – it is easier for them to understand whether the pupil understands everything when training is built on levels.

The SimCityEDU game, funded by the Gates and MacArthur funds, will bring the assessment system in line with general government standards. The EDU version uses the same algorithm as the previous version, but adds an assessment method that evaluates and analyzes the student’s choices in a given situation.

Currently the work is underway to finalize the game – GlassLab uses focus groups to process the results and communicating with students as feedback.

Children involved in the research are “fascinated by what’s happening around them,” Lindle says.

Students will be asked to discuss issues, explore the topic in order to make decisions about building a certain type of power plant in the city.

During the game, they will be provided with photographic and other documentation, based on which students will draw conclusions, draw tables, and make decisions by interpreting the data. The game will evaluate every action – every choice and decision. In this way, the teacher will have a tool to see if an individual child meets the level set by the state standard.

The development team also hopes that the additional data provided by the game will tell the teacher when to intervene in the learning process and help the student. For example, if the pupil receives contradictory data in the research, the teacher can tell him that the data can be processed in a different way, so the pupil will come to the right conclusions. SimCityEDU will not be released on https://argoprep.com/blog/singapore-math-vs-common-core-whats-the-difference/ the market until an independent expert, SRI International, confirms that the data obtained from the game are reliable. Special research and tests will be conducted for this purpose.

GlassLab plans to offer its downloadable game to teachers and schools for a small fee. Lind says that within the global gaming industry SimCityEDU departs from traditional commercial plans (such as Minecraft – the application of Minecraft in education), this game has slightly different goals and action. The free game form offers experience thanks to which it is possible to improve quality of the lessons considerably.

“We want the teacher to be able to choose between general information about the learning process and more focused, with more details, like intelligence. If a decision is made to purchase an extended version of the game, the license will cost about $60. But both the first and the second version cost much more than the set prices, because in this product is concentrated experience, and many will be ready to pay for it.

How online learning differs from distance learning

Why are some courses called remote while others are online? What is the fundamental difference between them, and is it even there? In this material we tried to understand these questions and gave some small recommendations on how to choose a training program for those who plan to improve their skills and learn new skills useful for the profession.

Distance Learning This word

combination is most often associated with distance learning, but it implies a completely different concept.

Distance learning is a form of education in which a teacher and a student interact from a distance using information technology.

During distance learning, a student studies independently in a developed program, reviews webinar records, solves problems, consults with an instructor in an online chat room, and periodically submits his or her work to the instructor for review. Distance learning became popular with the advent of the Internet, opening new development opportunities for residents of remote communities and business people with busy schedules. In the beginning, distance learning was perceived only as an additional way to acquire knowledge or prepare for exams.

Now you can take full-fledged distance learning courses and advanced training programs from prestigious universities, commercial and non-profit companies from different countries, anywhere in the world. Whether there are differences between distance learning and online learning, we asked those who work in this field:

Online training

Online learning is the acquisition of knowledge and skills through a computer or other gadget connected to the Internet in the mode “here and now”. This format of training is also called e-learning or “e-learning”. And it is considered a logical continuation of distance learning. And the word “online” only indicates the way to obtain knowledge and the teacher’s connection with the student. During online learning, a student watches lectures in a video or in a live broadcast, passes interactive tests, shares files with the tutor, communicates with classmates and teachers in chat rooms, passes quests, and so on. This training allows you to fully immerse yourself in the educational environment and improve your skills on the job.

Similarities and differences between online and distance learning

The main similarity of online and distance learning is the process of obtaining new knowledge and skills outside the classroom and direct contact with teachers. The term “distance learning” indicates that there is a distance between student and instructor. And “online learning” means that this learning happens through an Internet connection and gadgets.

Otherwise, they are almost completely identical and have such advantages:

  • individual pace of learning – you can study materials according to your own schedule, without being tied to the group, time and place of study
  • availability – you can study from any computer at a convenient time
  • personal consultation with the tutor – effective feedback from teachers during the entire period of training
  • course in the “pocket” – you can at any time revise the lesson or missed a webinar in the record, download training materials and pass the job to the tutor for inspection.

The main questions when choosing an online/distance learning course

In this variety of formats and names it is very easy to get lost and it is difficult to choose a quality online training or professional development program.

t is worth asking a few questions to the training centers before enrolling in an online course or training. Here is a short list of such questions:

Are there free trial lessons or introductory course excerpts?

The demo version of the course and training helps to familiarize yourself with the course content, the level of presentation and to decide whether the online learning format is appropriate for you.

Does the training center have accreditation for training in any of the programs? A positive answer to this question, backed up by appropriate documentation, can guarantee the completeness and quality of training at the center. read more here https://argoprep.com/blog/k8/benefits-of-homeschooling/

Formal accreditations are issued by national and international professional organizations only to qualified providers.

What requirements does the program have for students? If a program sets out the requirements for a student’s level of training or qualifications, it means that the program is designed for a particular audience and experience, which increases the usefulness of the material. Will I have to complete any written assignments? Having practical assignments is an undeniable advantage in any online course. The more assignments, the higher the probability of qualitative mastery of new skills and knowledge. Who can I contact in case of technical problems (access to materials, teacher, downloading completed assignments)?

Who can solve them and how quickly? Ideally, the student should have his/her own virtual office on the portal. It is where all training, assignments, communication with the teacher and administrators take place. If there is no one, then providers of training should specify contact numbers, mail addresses and/or links to profiles in social networks of administrators and curators for communication.

How can I contact the instructor for consultation and how often can I do this? The presence and frequency of contact with a teacher has a significant impact on the quality of learning. The easier it is for a student to consult with the instructor and clarify the correctness of a task or topic, the better the quality of online learning. The Internet and digital technologies have mixed online and distance learning concepts. Both variants of the titles imply learning outside the classroom, on their own schedule.

Now the main question for all professionals who want to improve their skills or learn something new is not the format of training, but in its quality, duration and relevance of the acquired knowledge.
